Fosterers perform an important part in helping abandoned or traumatised cats by encouraging play and development/socialisation. This enables cats to develop normal healthy feline behaviour through routine and play while waiting for a permanent home, which perfectly matches the cats’ particular needs.
Fostering can be a very rewarding and fulfilling experience but it requires a great deal of commitment as well as emotional and physical energy. It can, on occasion, be distressing and frustrating. When a cat or kitten which the Fosterer has nursed for some time and developed an attachment to is re-homed, it can be very emotional.
That said it can truly be the most amazing experience, particularly when you successfully home a cat or kitten, not only giving a cat their own home but also creating space for the next one to come into care.
If you feel you could become a Fosterer, please ring the branch and we will arrange for the Welfare Officer to contact you.
