VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH FERAL TRAPPING
Feral cats are the offspring of stray or abandoned domestic cats. They live in towns, cities or rural areas and may have little or no contact with humans and prefer to live among their own, to be free and to answer to their own unique natures. Every year Cats Protection (CP) helps approximately 17,000 feral cats through a network of dedicated volunteers. CP runs a national trap, neuter and return programme (TNR) which means that cats are trapped, transported to the vet for neutering and then returned to their home area, or if this is not possible, relocated to a suitable alternative site. We are looking for people to help with trapping and transportation, full training will be provided by CP together with advice and support on an ongoing basis. This role requires flexibility, we may be required to trap large numbers of cats which can require going back and forth to the vets, or we may only need to trap one cat. A commitment of 2-3 hours per week would not be unusual, either working independently or as part of a larger team. So, if you feel you can deal with cats that don’t always want to be dealt with, we would love to hear from you, please contact us on the number below.
